Barbara Ann Zucco – Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of long time Babb Family Association Member, Barbara Zucco in 2012. Many may remember Barbara from past reunions. I’ve included her obituary below:

Barbara Ann Zucco, 68, a 45-year resident of Odenton, and previously of Woodfield, died April 5 at Washington Hospital Center after a lengthy illness.

She was born December 8, 1943 in Washington, D.C. and attended Damascus High School, where she graduated in 1961. She went on to the University of MD, College Park, graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor’s of Education degree. In 1972, she graduated from Loyola University in Baltimore with a Master’s of Administration degree.

Barbara was a teacher at Corkran Junior High, Severna Park Junior High, Arundel Senior High, and Meade Senior High, where from 1976 to 2000, she was the Department Head of Social Studies, Student Government Coordinator and Drama Coach.

She was an active member on the Board of Directors for Children’s Theatre of Annapolis, Talent Machine Company and Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre in the 1990’s. Barbara was President of Cat Rescue organization, CATS R US, and was very passionate about her work to help cats in need. She also loved to read, travel, and the theatre.

Married on August 6, 1966, she is survived by her husband, Bill Zucco; her daughter, Karen Melton, and son-in-law, Robert Melton of Max Meadows, VA; brother, Robert Windham of Marietta, GA; sister, Nancy McGinness of Derwood; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, at Hardesty Funeral Home P.A., 851 Annapolis Rd., Gambrills. A Funeral Service is planned at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, at Nichols Bethel United Methodist Church, 1239 Murray Ave., Odenton. Interment Epiphany Cemetery in Odenton.
