Today’s Stop: Newton St Cyres

This was a short but intriguing trip. Newton St Cyres contains just two marriage records for a William “Babb or Hext” in 1587.

When I saw the record I got very excited. The name Hext has only been seen in a single Pedigree for the Manor Lords of Doddiscombsleigh, Devon, England. I immediately did a directions search to chart it’s distance and found the two towns are located just 13 miles apart (21 km).

There isn’t a match just yet and more research on the Hext name is needed, but I’ll need to finish the Babbs before I worry about that one. I’ve made a note to come back to it later.
