You are cordially invited to participate in the

Log Raising of Seth Babb’s Log Home

aka “Babb Reconstruction – 2011”

Greeneville, TN

Saturday November 5th, 2011

On Saturday, Nov 5th, we will reassemble the Seth Babb log house, without machinery, by using the same techniques used when the building was first assembled over 200 years ago. The logs will be hoisted up skid poles with ropes and pushed along with wooden pikes fueled with the same Babb grit and determination that built it the before.

Prior to our arrival old limestone rock stone piers will be installed, the sill logs laid in place and ground floor joists in place with a temporary plywood floor over them for us to work on while the logs go up. When we get to the second floor the second floor joists will be installed and an additional plywood floor will be installed so that we have access to the full structure.

The roof, chimney & interior will be put in place by professionals later. This is the kind of event that the more hands the better, so there isn’t a limit to the number of people who can assist. Please join us as we end of our 7 year reconstruction effort and help us start a new era!
