Salem, MA

Last night I had some spare time so I drove out to Rye, NH as the library was open late. It was pretty much a dry run, but on the way back I stopped by New Castle, NH and took photos of the Bridge Sampson opposed way back when. It is very scenic over there and I spent some time watching the sunset. I posted those pics last night. Today I went to the Peabody Essex Library which has more rules than are necessary. Just about the only piece of information on Babb’s there was that a couple of Babb’s were on a tax list once. I already knew that, so I continued on. They did have lots of town histories & family genealogies so I spent most of my time looking through those. Afterwards I went and toured the Salem Witch Trial Memorial and bought a t-shirt. The main finds today were that of some detail about Isreal Hoyt & James Cate which I will post. After that I went by the John Bray house at Kittery Point. It is the one being remodeled by Darrel Hall (Hall & Oates). It is the oldest structure in Maine (1682). After that I went to the water’s edge on the Maine side and then came back to the hotel to rest up. Tomorrow I visit the Museums of Old York and then meet Julia Older for lunch. After lunch I head towards the airport.
