Joseph Babb – 1st Maryland Regiment

This record, from the Maryland State Archives shows that a Joseph Babb served in the 1st Maryland Regiment during the American Revolution. He was granted leave to heal from a “sore leg”.

We do not know how this Joseph connects into the tree, but he is presumed to be a Green Men of Maryland Babb due to the location. He would have been born prior to 1765 to have been able to serve in the war, though he is likely older. This is a minimum age of just 13-years as later in the war younger men were recruited out of necessity.

While there are other Joseph Babb’s who served during The Revolution, I find no other trace of this Joseph in Maryland. Fold3 does not have any reference to a muster roll that he is included in, or any other record of him that I can find as of the date of this post.

However, he has been added as a top-level member of the Green Men of Maryland genetic lineage pending the discovery of additional context.
