Howard Frank Babb

Today we are in Brockton, MA on Sept 26, 1892, as Howard Frank Babb is appointed the administrator on the estate of Rosa J. Babb. Rosa is not his wife (he was already married to Sarah E. Dunn who is the mother of his children and doesn’t die until 5 years later).

So, we have this outlier record for a New Brunswick, Canada Babb. We know not where Howard was born. His exact lineage is unclear and thus he has the tree number of 1-5-3-4=2-?-1. His grandfather is Benjamin Joshua Babb, but there is more than one potential father for him and thus this record hasn’t been reported until now.

I’ve been unable to find documentation to prove the connection. Thus, Rosa is somewhat stranded in the tree with only this record to connect her. There is no record of her with the family in the previous Census records. For this reason, she is unlikely to be his daughter. All of his known sons lived past this date, so she is also not likely to be a daughter-in-law.

She is potentially a sister, sister-in-law. Without more information, it is impossible to determine. The probate is of no assistance in this instance and there are no other newspaper entries that I’ve been able to find about her.

This is currently a dead end. If anyone has information on Howard, please contact me by commenting on this post.

  1. Hi Dan, Remember that I found a couple of obscure family documents linking family members in the Historic Society of Kittery Maine. Perhaps, that is a good place to check. At one point, the surrounding areas were part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

    • Hi Judy! I’ve already got all of that information from the Kittery Library worked into the tree. We just lack a birth or death certificate to show exactly who his father was. We can tell who his grandfather is, so we aren’t far off. Hence the question mark in the tree number.
