On the heels of my last post regarding the Travis Theorem another volunteer from the Green Men of Maryland has come forward and offered to conduct a test to help us clear up some of the confusion we see in the blood line for line 3-1. That being the singular paper trail and two different sets of Y-DNA. This test is strategically located in that the paper trail match is half-way up the tree between the candidate with the different Y-DNA. Thus, depending on which of the two competing groups he matches we will be able to better narrow down the time frame where the non-paternal event occurred.

That is, assuming that the DNA doesn’t say “None of the Above”, which happens all too often.

The test has been ordered, and I received word today that it has been shipped. Once returned to the lab, it takes on average about 3-5 weeks for the results to come in.

Additionally, I have ordered an upgrade for the last test that started me down the road of sorting out these Maryland Babb groups to see approximately when the match between the two that have a 36 of 37 marker match to see if we can narrow the timeframe of when that match would have occurred. This will help to validate the assumptions already made in the tree, which currently shows a match beyond the time of the paper trail. Currently, there is a 300-year window, and this will/should help narrow it to a 150-year period. Our DNA company appears to have enough unused material in the provided sample to do this without the need for additional mail time.

Stay tuned for both results and perhaps, just perhaps, some clarity about this branch of our tree!
