Happy Eclipse Day

To all of the Babb(s) in North America, I want to wish you a most joyous eclipse day! This happens to be the very first time in my life that I will be able to view the Totality of a Full Eclipse, as it is passing directly over Dallas, TX, where I make my home.

The forecast is iffy for cloud cover but regardless I’ll be seeing two sunrises and two sunsets on the same day for the very first time. We jsut don’t know how hazy it will be. 😉

Traffic here is already abysmal with roughly 400,000 people arriving here just to try to participate in the fun.

The hotels are at 99% occupancy, while still charging 3 times the normal rate, and some friends that came to stay with us had to book an entire week, just to avoid being gouged by the airlines. We were caught in a gridlock of traffic yesterday just trying to show our friends around the city.

They are predicting up to 13-hour traffic jams today and several counties in our state were declared disaster zones almost 2 weeks in advance. However, we will be sheltering in place, to enjoy the eclipse from our own pool in the backyard.

So, whether you are a Lion, a Green-Man, a White Stag, a Blue Panther or an African Phoenix in North America, please join me in watching the most spectacular astronomical event of what is, at least, my lifetime!

Let’s all toast to the fact that we are collectively Babbs!

Cheers!

  2. Good Morning and Happy BELATED Eclipse Day!!

It was a perfect day, even with sitting in 5 hrs of traffic one way, to end up driving 137 miles…

We had the opportunity to witness a beautiful eclipse and make new friends in the process!

Couldn’t have asked for a better day!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful time within the eclipse path!

    CHEERS BABB FAMILY!!

    • It was spectacular here in Dallas. We had a bad forecast and early clouds, but the sky steadily improved and just as the sun was almost ensconced the clouds gave way and gave us a perfect view of this amazing wonder.
