Work is progressing on the Homestead and we hope to have most things completed by the reunion. The chinking and daubing are virtually complete and plans are to finish up the roof tomorrow.
The chimney is proving to be a complex task. Not only must we locate more stone to complete the reconstruction, it also must have been “tooled” in a similar fashion so it will match. Because Seth’s Homestead is two stories the chimney is much taller than your run of the mill 200 year old log home. Our Builder, David Howard, has meetings tomorrow to try and get the situation settled.
Reunion on June 22-24th. The reunion fee of $55 includes:
• A private Wine & Appetizer reception on Friday night at the Homestead with area dignitaries and Museum Board Members. During this time we will put the finishing touches on the last 4 feet of Chinking/Daubing and Babb Family Members will be able to sign their name in the chinking. For those not registered for the reunion, tickets will be $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
• A picnic lunch will also be provided at the Public Dedication ceremony on Saturday. Note that pre-registration is required for the picnic lunch as we have to plan this in advance.
• The Reunion Brochure will be made available electronically for you to download.
A group rate of $45 is available for registrations of 10 or more people.
