New Online Tree Structure

Despite a small setback, the uploads have successfully completed, and we are officially back on Ancestry again with up-to-date trees. Note the new links below, which can also be found on the Home Page. I’ve changed the structure slightly to allow for exploration of two areas that are under development.

  1. I have carved a new tree out for the descendants of Freedmen in the United States. This is to promote clarity on the size and breadth of the population, and it will greatly speed the ability to conduct research on these lines. This is currently a duplicate of what is in the big tree and may eventually be brought back in once the research is complete. For now, only the Freedmen tree will be updated. Anyone that wishes to discover information about the enslavers can reach out to me and I’ll help identify them as I’m able. Please first consult with my post A Genealogical Research Aid for African American Babbs – Babb Unabridged for general guidance on this subject.
  2. The tree formerly known as Barbados has been expanded to Central & South America to reflect the most common locations that people moved from as the left the island.
  3. All Others is the kitchen sink of everyone else from all other locations is located at the link. I generally refer to it as the “Big Tree” of Babb.

Gain Direct Access to the Tree

A benefit of paid membership in the Association is the ability to access the online tree. No subscription with Ancestry is required, though you will need to create a free account there. Access will allow you to review information on any deceased members of the tree and to import it into your own Ancestry tree as you wish. If you also purchase an Ancestry subscription, you’ll be able to see the associated documents for each person.

  1. I was wondering yesterday where your big Babb tree is located. Thank you for sharing this link. I’m ready to double check my line!
