I’ve received at least a dozen requests from various people wanting to see the status of Seth’s Homestead in Greeneville, TN.
After a number of inquiries, we have been able to establish that Seth’s Homestead in Greeneville, TN is safe and sound. However, that does not mean that all is well and good.
The storm and resulting flood have devastated Davey’s Crockett Birthplace Homestead State Park everything washed away. The Stonecypher Cabin which was used to represent Davey’s birthplace has been washed away with only the chimney still standing.

For those that may not recall, Seth Babb’s wife was Annie Stonecypher and more Stonecyphers have been born inside Seth’s place than Babbs. This is a devastating loss to the Babb-Stonecypher families, not to mention the state park and the memory of Davey Crockett.

Four State Parks have been closed and good portions of I-40 were washed out completely. There is widespread destruction in areas that are in the drainage areas from the nearby mountains, so the damage is very hit and miss.
Greeneville’s water treatment plant was destroyed and is being rebuilt. It is expected to come back online in the next day or so and that will bring a beginning to the relief the people who had so lovingly taken care of one of our families most prized historical artifacts.
Note also that the creek that runs by Seth’s homestead is in fact a Natural Spring, so it doesn’t rise and fall with the rainfall as much as other bodies of water in the area. It’s not part of a larger drainage plain.
Please keep the residents of Greeneville and all the other affected communities in your thoughts as they get through this rough time.
XOXOXO
