Incest in York – 1666

Our first Pedigree in Yorkshire, England begins with a case of Incest and Adultery…at the same time!

It seems that one Mary Babb was having an affair with her brother-in-law Richard Babb. They were caught in the act by a nosy neighbor who spied them through a peephole.

According to the book they and were processed through the consistory court at York. However, a search of online court records revealed no information. A message to the authors was not returned.

Regardless, this is a very old lineage, even if the family tree didn’t fork. It is also the first Babb pedigree based in York and bears the name Yorkshire Pedigree (York 1666).
