Continuing my series about the Babbs throughout England, we now come to the county of Cornwall, which is the very South West tip of England. Cornwall borders Devon, which is where the lion share of Babbs in the country originate. So, it is an important component to understand the big picture.
Here we find an even dozen Pedigrees (4 large trees and 8 minor ones), which are lettered instead of numbered, like the large ones are. Ian left no descriptions of his exact reasoning in how he named and numbered them, but it doesn’t matter. He was very thorough! Note that once again these trees are very likely to eventually be united as the locations are tightly clustered with only St. Dominick (sometimes Dominic) being only 14 miles (22 KM) away from the rest. All of the locations are close to the Devon border.

Hi there my name is Susan greenwood ( nee Babb) I have really enjoyed browsing your site and find it fascinating. I note babb’s from lewannick are mentioned but no Babb’s from north hill ( near lewannick) of whom I am descended. My father is Cecil John Babb and my grandfather was Cecil james Babb . The family first emigrated to america in the 17th century which sparked numerous emigrations to america the last of which was the California gold rush in the 18th century which is where the family made their money . We also have direct family in south Africa and australia and interestingly all miners, a very cornish profession 😊.
I’m researching ancestry for my daughter-in-law, Katie (nee Babb). She is the great grand-daughter of Percy Allen Babb (1893-1963). He is grandson of William Henry Babb (1842-1911) listed as Generation 4 in your Cornwall Pedigree 04. Percy appears in the 1901 census as living with his grandfather, William Henry. There is no record of his parents, and I am wondering if he was the illegitimate son of Emma (b. 1870) who perhaps died in childbirth, leaving Percy Allen to be brought up by his grandparents. Emma occurs in your line of descent, but not Percy Allen. There is no evidence for a father. Have you any thoughts.
